This handmade paper has more hapu`u fern fibers (Hawaiian fern) that makes the paper more brown. Banana stalks printed on handmade paper made from wauke (Hawaiian mulberry), hapu`u fern (Hawaiian fern), and ti leaves.
Wauke is a strong off-white fiber used for papermaking and is used traditionally for Hawaiian kapa. Hapu`u ferns have soft delicate brown hairs that are discarded before cooking. The rib of the ti leaves are used for decorative fibers for papermaking as well as an important cultural plant in Hawaii.
Due to the nature of printing and handmade paper, each artwork is one-of-a-kind. Each paper have natural deckled edges from the papermaking process, therefore, size may slightly vary. Each print will vary because banana stalks are a natural material.
